How it all began!

Category : The Beginning

Graduating from North Georgia College, I started working as a wedding photographer.

After photographing several weddings in 2011, I wondered why no one released doves.

So I researched the idea and found that people do release them for weddings but they were not readily available in this area.

So I researched further and found they can be trained to return home.  I was really intrigued!

I dropped the idea for a couple months but just couldn’t get it out of my mind.  So I started researching and reading everything I could find on the subject of raising and training doves.

In January 2012, I built a small dove house and acquired four Rock Doves.

I researched and found Design House of Flowers was having an open house.  So I called and talked to Pam, I explained to her what I was doing and asked if I could setup at her open house.  She was very helpful and I will forever be grateful.  But there’s more, I met some amazing vendors that were instrumental in getting my business off the ground.

At the open house, I booked my first wedding at Lake Lanier Islands Resort.  I also met Jackie Raez from Smooth Tie The Knots.

Jackie was so kind, she met with the ladies at Something Blue with Lake Lanier Islands Resort and explained my services to them and about me having booked a wedding there.  They asked me to give them a call… They invited me to participate in their food tasting event. I have been a preferred vendor with them ever since.

If it weren’t for Pam and Jackie, who knows if I’d gotten off the ground.  But it doesn’t stop there…

I also met Tod Peavy with DJTOD, Tod is a great motivator and has been very encouraging.  Helping me and supporting me more than he could ever know.

My first wedding came along on 3 June 2012, where I met Daniel Stancil with Daniel Stancil Photography.  Daniel took an awesome photo of the release (See Photo Above), and has given me permission to use it for promoting Georgia Dove.

Having been in the business for more than 3 years, I have made friends with hundreds of vendors that I consider family.

I have been steadily growing ever since!
